Every September, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week gives us the opportunity to recognize the men and women who keep America moving. Truck drivers deliver the products we depend on daily, often working long hours and covering thousands of miles each week. This year, we’re proud to highlight one of those drivers — Scott from Paradis Inc.
A Career on the Open Road
Scott began his trucking journey at just 21 years old, starting part-time with Paradis. Nearly 30 years later, he’s still with the company and has spent 24 of those years running the same route. His dedication and consistency speak volumes about his commitment to both the job and the people he works with.
When asked what he enjoys most, Scott doesn’t hesitate: “I enjoy the open road. I’m home every night, but I drive about 600 miles a day.” That balance of covering ground while staying close to home is part of what’s kept him passionate about his career.
Behind the Wheel of the All-New Volvo VNL
Scott drives an all-new Volvo VNL, and he’s quick to point out the difference it makes. “I enjoy the redesign. The cab layout is phenomenal. The safety equipment isn’t over-evasive, and it’s a quiet, smooth-running truck.”
For drivers like Scott, comfort and safety matter. Long hours on the road are made easier by thoughtful design, giving drivers the tools they need to stay focused and feel at ease.
More Than a Job — A Commitment
Truck driving is more than just clocking miles; it’s about making an impact. Scott explains: “Moving the product that we do makes me feel like I’m making an impact. It takes a special kind of person to be out there. Not a lot of people are willing to get into the industry, being away from family and making the commitment. Someone has to do it, and I stepped up.”
This perspective is what sets professional drivers apart. It’s not just about delivering freight. It’s about the dedication, resilience, and pride that come with the role.
Recognition That Matters
For Scott, Truck Driver Appreciation Week is meaningful. “It’s nice to know that people are thinking about you. Over the year it feels like you’re on your own, but this time of recognition shows people care.”
At Paradis Trucking, Scott feels that appreciation year-round. After three decades with the company, he notes, “Paradis treats us like family, so I’ve never wanted to leave.”
Thank You, Truck Drivers
Drivers like Scott remind us why National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is so important. Their commitment keeps shelves stocked, communities supplied, and our economy moving forward.
To Scott and all drivers across the country — thank you. Your work makes a difference every single day.
