Are you interested in learning more about the transportation industry or what it’s like being a diesel mechanic? RDO Truck Centers offers a part-time paid internship for high school students. Through an internship, students can take what they’re learning in the classroom and make connections to the real world. Interns are involved in all aspects of the dealership; our sales, parts and service departments.


A career in diesel mechanics has evolved with the implementation of modern technology software paired with computers and tablets. Your hands will still get dirty but diagnosing and servicing diesel engines requires someone that is both tech-savvy and great at problem-solving. Specific Duties Include:
• Shadow, learn and assist technicians with maintenance and repairs.
• Assist in the parts department and showroom.
• Assist with building and yard maintenance as well as cleaning equipment.
• Mark and store parts in the stockroom according to the prearranged system and assist with cycle count duties.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
• Adhere to academic policies, rules and regulations set forth by the learning center the student is attending.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
• Conduct self in the presence of customers and the community so as to present a professional image of RDO Truck Centers.
• Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
• Participate in all company/location-driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.


Job Requirements:
• Must be 17 years of age or older.
• Desire to explore diesel technology or parts warehouse areas with the intent to continue education in this field.
• Basic knowledge of engines, powertrains, and electrical systems is helpful but not required.
• Maintain acceptable attendance record while in program.
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication and written skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
